The first ever Baldock Rat Run is set to take place on September 9, in aid of Garden House Hospice Care.
Organised by Baldock business woman Samantha Holland, who owns Sports Therapy 4 U, the 5km race is described as a “great warm up for Standalone 10K”.
She said: “Our theme this year is Rat Race as this year’s route takes us through north Baldock, the tunnel under the railway bridge and on to the beautiful Ivel Springs.
“There will also be a charity raffle, bouncy castle, face paints, tug of war and other activities as well as a barbecue, drinks and light music.
“We are looking to raise as much money as possible for the Garden House Hospice.”
“You don’t need to just run, jog or walk the event to help, that’s why we have some light entertainment on the day.
“Why not bring the family? Let the kids play on the bouncy castle while you enjoy the barbecue and the little ones get their face painted waiting for your loved one to cross the finish line?
“We really hope to make this a fun, family event for all ages to enjoy for many years to come. We thank you for your support and hope to see you there.”
Supporters and sponsors of the event include Stonepoint Ltd, the Baldock Events Forum, North Herts Road Runners, Achemy Creations Ltd, and Satchells Estate Agents.
Participants must be 13 years and older and race entries are £8. Registration on the day will be charged at £10. The closing date for online entries is September 7.
