Runners in their hundreds took part in Baldock’s first ever 5k Rat Run on Sunday in aid of Garden House Hospice Care.
The event, which was organised by Sports Therapy 4 U owner Samantha Holland and included a family fun day, raised £1,220 for the Letchworth-based hospice.
Samantha said: “It went amazingly well, better than I anticipated. We had 183 runners and some families who came along to do the games and the bouncy castle, so we must have had at least 250 people there.
“I will definitely be doing it again next year. People have been saying how well organised it was. The whole town is talking about it.
“It was a really good day and I’m really proud of what we have raised.”
As well as being a fundraising event for the hospice, it was also organised as a way of celebrating the 10th birthday of Samantha’s business which is located in Whitehorse Street.
