Last Thursday saw the opening for pop up restaurant, The Barley Club, serving five course tasting menus using fresh seasonal produce sourced locally and featuring the finest flavours from around the world.
The intimate 34 seater restaurant has a stylish yet relaxed and friendly atmosphere where customers can dine and indulge whilst being offered a premium service.
The restuarant was started by three friends living in Baldock – two of which grew up in the town – who had discussed the need for a different kind of eating experience in the area.
It was important to the trio that the name was firmly rooted in the town and its past – it is inspired by the Malting history. By 1700, Baldock was becoming famous for its locally grown Barley, and a home to many breweries.
One of the partners Hannah Beadsworth said: “We have been overwhelmed by the positive response we’ve received from the people of Baldock and the surrounding areas.
“We look forward to sharing more culinary treats in the coming weeks.”
Among those enjoying opening weekend at The Barley Club was model and BEM awarded Daphne Selfe.
Customer reviews included:
“It’s the restaurant that Baldock has been waiting for!”
“Lovely evening. Great atmosphere, fabulous food and five star service.”
